Homework Assignments

Some assignments will be modified from last semester.

Files below the horizontal line are not current for Fall, 2006.

• HW #1 Requirements Engineering Introduction The homework assignment requires that you read the Chaos Report and Unfinished Voyages by the Standish Group.
• Chaos Report in .pdf format (this is about 1.2Mb)
• Unfinished Voyages in Rich Text Format (rtf) Word and a lot of other word processors can read rtf. This file is about 27 Kb. I scanned it into Word in rtf format. It may have translated a character or two incorrectly but I think I caught most of the mistakes.

• Requirements Elicitation -- The assignment called "Requirements Elicitation and Specification" takes 2 weeks to complete and covers topics from two weeks.
• HW #2 Requirements Elicitation and Specification -- two parts, part 2 due a week later than part 1.
• HW #3 Requirements Verification
• HW #4 System Test Planning HW 3 and HW4 are tools to clarify requirements which, in turn, become useful for guides to generate system tests.

• HW#5 Domain Modeling
• HW#6 Design Modeling This homework uses one of the domain models your classmates produced for hw 5 as a basis for hw 6.

• HW#7 Glass Box Testing

• Spring 2005 Final Exam example I replaced the Fall 2004 exam with the Spring 2005 exam for your reference. In Spring 2005, the course was offered only through the CAETE library. Because there were so few students (and they were all distance students), I used the final exam from fall 2004. HOWEVER, I added some clarifying information. For example, above and to the right of the class diagram, there is a NOTE to help you understand how the product works.

  Note: this exam refers to two textbooks. I no longer require the textbook on Testing but I provide all the necessary material in the PowerPoint slides and the "notes" half of the PPT slides. If you don't know what I mean by "notes" half, ask me.
