Faculty Positions Available in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has several openings for tenure-track faculty:

OPTICS: The University of Colorado invites applications for two faculty positions in the broad areas of Photonics, Optical Science and Optical Engineering. This search is part of a campus wide Optics Initiative that involves several new optics faculty positions. Members of the Optics Initiative include more than forty faculty working in optics and optics-related research in departments and institutes across the campus. We are seeking candidates with demonstrated abilities to initiate, organize and lead an internationally recognized research program, and whose optics field of expertise complements and integrates well with existing strengths on campus. In addition to demonstrated research achievements we highly value professional experience and a commitment to teaching excellence. This search is directed toward junior-level, tenure-track positions; however, applications from outstanding senior-level candidates will be considered. A successful candidate may be housed either in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (for example, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering), or in the College of Arts and Sciences (for example, in the Department of Physics), depending on his or her background, field of research, and preferences.

Candidates should submit a letter highlighting their research and teaching credentials, as well as their interest in fostering multi-disciplinary collaborations within a broad vision of Optics at the University of Colorado. The letter, a curriculum vitae, a research proposal (1-2 pages), and three letters of recommendation should be submitted through the university system's on-line application process Please click here to submit an application. Please see posting 802417 to apply. Additional information about the positions can be found at http://www.colorado.edu/optics/.

The Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on February 1, 2008 and will continue to review applications until the positions are filled. The University of Colorado is sensitive to the needs of dual career couples. The University of Colorado at Boulder is committed to diversity and equality in education and employment. In that spirit, applications at all levels will be considered from those who would strengthen the Universities' diversity.

NANOSTRUCTURES/OPTICS: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position beginning in August 2008, in the area of optics, optical nanostructures, and materials. The research areas of interest include nanostructured materials, novel nanolithography techniques, plasmonics, photonic metamaterials, carbon-based nanomaterials, wide bandgap semiconductors, organic semiconductors, imaging, optical information technologies, ultrafast optics, and biophotonics.

Applications at levels besides that of assistant professor may also be considered from those who would strengthen the Department?s diversity. Candidates must have a PhD in electrical or computer engineering or a related discipline, the ability to develop a successful independent research program, and enthusiasm for working with both undergraduate and graduate students. The University of Colorado at Boulder is committed to diversity and equality in education and employment. We encourage applications from women and minority candidates

Applications received by January 14, 2008 will receive priority consideration. Completed applications must include a letter of application specifying the desired position and area of specialization, complete curriculum vitae, statements of research and teaching interests, and the names of three references. Applications must be submitted using the university system's on-line application process. Please click here to submit an application. Please see posting 802414 to apply.

MODERN SIGNAL PROCESSING/INFORMATION RETRIEVAL: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering seeks outstanding candidates for a tenure-track position beginning in August 2008, in the area of modern statistical signal processing. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: information retrieval, algorithms for the analysis of high-dimensional and massive datasets, search methods, statistical machine learning, image processing, and data assimilation. The Department has collaborative ties with researchers in biology, medicine, applied mathematics, geoscience, physics, chemistry, computer science and other engineering departments.
